Lonestar Storage — Privacy Policy

This notice explains what personal information Lonestar Storage (operated by Loanstar Storage, LLC) collects about you, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it. It covers this website, our tenant portal, and the storage units we rent.

Information we collect

• Contact details you give us: your name, email address, phone number and postal address.
• Rental and billing records: the unit you rent, what you have been invoiced, what you have paid, and any late or lien notices.
• Payment details: card payments are taken by our payment processor. We receive a record of the payment and the last four digits of the card. We do not hold your full card number.
• Identification: where we ask for proof of identity, a copy of the document you provide.
• Messages: the emails, text messages and notes exchanged between you and us.
• Gate access records: where a site has an electronic gate, the times your code was used.
• Website information: the pages you request and the technical details your browser sends, which are used to serve the site and to diagnose faults in it.

Why we collect it

We use this information to rent you a unit and administer that rental, to take payment and chase what is owed, to secure the site and control access, to answer you when you get in touch, and to meet obligations the law puts on a self-storage operator — including the notices a lien sale requires.

Text messages

We only text you if you have agreed to it — by ticking the box on a form on this site, by telling us in person, or because you had already agreed with the previous operator or management system we took your records over from. Message frequency varies. Standard message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them, or HELP for help. We will not sell or share your mobile information with third parties or affiliates for promotional or marketing purposes.

Who we share it with

• Service providers who run this business on our behalf: the payment processor that takes card payments, the software that runs this website and our management system, and the providers that deliver our email and text messages. They may only use your information to do that work for us.
• Other people, where you have asked us to — for example an alternate contact you named on your account.
• Law enforcement, a court, or an insurer, where the law requires it or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.

We do not sell your personal information.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and rental records for as long as you rent from us, and afterwards for as long as we need them to settle the account and for the period the law requires us to keep business and lien records. If you want to know what we still hold about you, or ask us to delete it, get in touch using the details below.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it — we will do that except where we are required to keep a record. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in them, and stop text messages by replying STOP. Asking us to stop marketing never stops the notices we have to send about your account.

Cookies

This website sets the cookies it needs in order to work — principally the one that keeps you signed in to the tenant portal. It does not use cookies to advertise to you or to build an advertising profile of you. Our payment processor sets its own cookies on the pages where you pay by card; those are described in their privacy notice, not ours.

Children

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this notice

If we change this notice we will publish the new version on this page.
